การประชุมวิชาการระดับประเทศทางด้านเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ (National Conference on Information Technology: NCIT) เกิดขึ้นจากความร่วมมือ
ของสถาบันการศึกษาที่ดำเนินการเรียนการสอนหลักสูตรทางด้านเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ 9 สถาบัน ดังนี้ มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าธนบุรี มหาวิทยาลัย
เทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าพระนครเหนือ สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าคุณทหารลาดกระบัง มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม มหาวิทยาลัยธุรกิจบัณฑิตย์ มหาวิทยาลัยวลัย
ลักษณ์ มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง และมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีมหานคร โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสภาคณะบดีคณะเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศแห่ง
ประเทศไทย การประชุม NCIT ได้ถูกจัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุก 2 ปี โดยในครั้งนี้มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีมหานครได้รับเกียรติให้เป็นเจ้าภาพ การประชุม NCIT มีเป้า
หมายเพื่อกระตุ้นและส่งเสริมการวิจัยและพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ทางด้านเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศภายในประเทศให้แพร่หลาย สำหรับธีมของการประชุม NCIT ครั้งที่ 4 คือ
Technology Advancement and Social Respects ซึ่งมีแนวคิดในการสร้างความตระหนักให้แก่นักวิจัยในการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีที่สามารถนำไปใช้งานได้
โดยไม่ส่งผลกระทบต่อสังคม อันจะนำไปสู่การพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ เทคโนโลยี และผลิตภัณฑ์ที่เหมาะสมต่อสังคมไทยในอนาคต
