depa Moves Forward with Promoting Filing Digital
Intellectual Property Applications 
depa Ladprao Building – The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) has been continuously promoting businesses and individuals to file applications for digital intellectual property patents and protection. The depa recently approved five digital development projects to receive promotions and support under the depa Digital Intellectual Property Voucher in order to file their digital intellectual property applications both in Thailand and abroad. The depa also pledges to provide knowledge and promote understanding about the intellectual property rights and the intellectual property patent application process. The ordinary people with intellectual property are also allowed to apply for the digital intellectual property patents in order to accelerate the growth of digital intellectual property patents as it is a key factor to help move Thailand’s digital economy forward.
Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of depa , said that one of the depa’s main missions under the Digital Development for Economy and Society Act B.E. 2560 is to provide suggestions, expedite and follow up on the amendment of law and regulations and regulatory measures related to intellectual property. The depa has promoted correct knowledge and understanding about the intellectual property rights. The depa has also encouraged businesses and individuals to file applications for digital intellectual property patents through a range of activities, such as seminars or workshops held in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce’s Department of Intellectual Property.
“The depa moving forward with providing knowledge, promoting better understanding and encouraging the digital intellectual property patent application has led to several companies submitting their applications to receive the depa’s promotions and support under the depa Digital Intellectual Property Voucher scheme so that they can file their applications to obtain digital intellectual property patents for their digital-related development projects and innovations both in Thailand and abroad. In 2018, there were seven digital-driven development projects that obtained promotions and support from the depa and there were six digital-oriented projects in 2019. As for 2020, the depa subcommittee approved five digital development projects to receive promotions and support under the depa Digital Intellectual Property Voucher,” said the President/CEO of depa.
Five projects that received an approval from the depa subcommittee are as follows;
1. A Complete Event Management System and Virtual Event Platform proposed by The White Labels Co., Ltd.
2. The Visible project, smart sales management program proposed by Fiveloop Co., Ltd.
3. The METTA Platform proposed by Mostori Co., Ltd.
4. Automated Hand Hygiene Monitoring System using communication technology proposed by A Normal Matter Co., Ltd.
5. Base Station Remote Monitoring and Access Control System proposed by Active Intelligence Co., Ltd.
Dr. Nuttapon added that the depa is committed to succeed in providing the righteous knowledge and correct understanding about the intellectual property as well as the digital intellectual property patent application process through multiple activities. The objective is to raise awareness about the importance of filing an application for digital intellectual property patents. The depa will also provide advisory services performed by experts in digital intellectual property rights and patent application in order to develop an ecosystem for digital intellectual property application. This also includes launching a “One Stop Service” to provide all-inclusive advisory services to applicants. Meanwhile, it also provides opportunities for ordinary people to apply for the depa’s promotions and support in order to enhance the application for digital intellectual property patents. It is a strategic move forward to steer the development of Thailand’s digital economy.
